Not looking like much from the outside, this neo-bacaro overlooking the canal made some noise with the #grategate, charging extra for Parmesan cheese. The stripped-down decor is brightened up with cheeky illustrated wine posters, handcrafted tableware by Skye Corewijn (Lazy Eye Ceramics), top British produce worked the Italian way… This osteria by talented Milanese Mitshel Ibrahim (ex-Koya, The Dairy…) clearly comes out of the shadows!
À la carte that day: crunchy-not greasy bone marrow and saffron arancini, sitting on a crumpled kraft menu; salsify roots, gorgonzola dolce and hazelnuts; very convincing pasta of the day – rigatoni al dente with plump mussels and parsley tomatoes; all wrapped up with a fig mustard and amaretti panna cotta. Can’t wait to take over the large terrace on summer days, digging briskly through the natural wine list.
