Oldroyd

Former Polpo group head chef Tom Oldroyd opened his micro-canteen on Upper Street in 2015. A few tables downstairs, not much more on the first floor, and an unfussy deep blue and copper decor.

The menu is tiny too, but the Mediterranean-inspired dishes are nothing minor: pea and pork belly croquetas with truffle mayo to start with; sunny yellow peach, cow’s curd, onion and black olive crumble salad; Provençal fish stew… Licking your plate clean, you pause for a second: it’s totally unreasonable, but you want to order more of those courgette fries, before digging into the blackberry mess with hazelnut meringue and Jersey cream. It’s on.
