22 Feb Monty’s Deli
After their successful venture at Maltby Street Market in 2012, Mark Ogus and Owen Barratt have successfully raised the dough for their first brick-and-mortar deli in Hoxton. They took over an old bakery with stunning Victorian tiles on the walls and turned into a Jewish soul food eatery, New-York style.
Look up to find your table number painted on the globe ceiling lights, sit in a comfy booth or under a giant pickle sign at the bar. Now is time to gobble down their iconic salt beef smoked on-site, and even throwing in some extra pastrami if super hungry. Have it on its own, as a Reuben on rye bread or tucked into a moist bagel – but always with mustard, sauerkraut, pickles, fries and coleslaw before tucking in the chocolate babka.
