09 Nov Lyle’s
Next time someone suggests dining at Pizza East, pull the gastrocool alternative out of your hat: Lyle’s, in the very same Tea Building. Its polished neutrality (bare walls, large open kitchen, Ercol chairs) leaves plenty of room for James Lowe’s talent (St. John Bread & Wine, Young Turks).
Savour delicate, ingredient-focused and definitely Modern British dishes. From the à la carte at lunch or set menu at dinner: smoked eel, hispi and dulse; beef broth, pickled girolles and Cotswold white egg; Spring lamb, carrots and anchovy… And on a lucky day, the famous treacle tart will have you change your mind about English puddings.
