After handling Gordon Ramsay's three stars, Clare Smyth flew solo in her bright Notting Hill white house, adorned with blond wood bookcases, celadon green accents and not a tablecloth in sight. Muted but not stiff.
From the kitchen-bay window, they chisel with head chef Johnny Bone ultra sophisticated plates, turning on the best of British produce: delicate woodland scene of nibbles; famous posh take on fish & chips - turned potato and trout roe in a sea of dulse beurre blanc and herring; soft skate swimming in brown butter, escorted by Morecambe Bay shrimps and Swiss chard; tender charcoal shortib with a soft stuffed Roscoff onion; elegant pink grapefruit and lemon verbena meringue... To be savoured to the pace of the flawless service.
