10 Apr Breddos Tacos Clerkenwell
In three years, Nud Dudhia and Chris Whitney’s unconventional tacos went from a Hackney car park to a couple of grown-up spaces. In Clerkenwell: vinyl records playing, cracking handmade Kana ceramics, beard-beanie in the kitchen, dim lighting even during the day… A tex-mex inspiration with homemade tortillas and ace British produce.
Order it all: a pig’s head cochinita pibil, mole vinaigrette and onion pickle taco; the intriguing sweetbreads, pea mole, coriander root, crema and aioli one, and the delicious sea urchin tostada. No need to add the chorizo queso fundido though, quite heavy. Wash it all down with a chilliback, a margarita or an hibiscus and rosehip agua fresca, before tucking into the tres leches ice cream taco.
Wine: glass from £5, bottle from £30
