14 Mar Berber & Q Grill House
Under his arch, Josh Katz (ex-Ottolenghi) nails the kebab, making you forget any sad memories of 5am questionable sliced meat. Think more evening kick-off, loud tunes and orientalist fez hats turned into dimmed ceiling lights… Most of all, it’s about cracking shawarmas, mixing influences from Marrakech to Tel Aviv, by way of Istanbul.
By the golden lattice candle holders, wolf down the charcoal-grilled specialties: creamy hummus, very Instagram-friendly roast cauliflower with rose and tahini, and a gigantic harissa lamb shoulder to share. Dip the warm and chubby pita bread everywhere and wake up with the whole thing with a few pickles and a seriously garlicky yogurt. To wash it all down, add in the house vermouth and natural wines hand-picked by Mattia Bianchi.
