29 Nov Baozi Inn Classic
In Chinatown’s maze of kitschy eateries, Baozi Inn almost stands out with its semi-in-the-moment decor (think light wood, ingredient jars and revolutionary posters), until you notice the TV screens displaying the menus, teleshopping-style.
Anyway, you’re not here for style, but for digging into Francis Law’s menu, especially the comforting dan dan noodles — a fiery Sichuan specialty with ground pork, fat and lots of spicy, along with a rice tea served in a paper cup. If you’re hungry for more, opt for the vegetable baozi steamed bun and a couple of Chengdu dumplings.
