Planning to eat at this cult Taiwanese eatery, originally a market stall established in 2012, is a real expedition. Expect to wait, even outside peak times. But the reward is worth your patience: a seat at the counter and kind smiles from the waitresses in their white uniforms.
And then the best bit, tucking into Erchen Chang’s cloudy, pillowy baos: the addictive pork classic (peanut powder, pickles, coriander), the cheeky fried chicken… Keep ticking the boxes on the menu by throwing in some ace xiao chi little plates (aubergine dip and wonton crisps, trotter nuggets), and raise a glass of homemade peanut milk or a Snow Blossom saké.
